The Principal of IPRC Huye urges staff and students to think much on research and innovation

Awarding two innovators from IPRC Huye for their best projects proposals, The Principal of IPRC Huye Maj. Dr. Barnabe TWABAGIRA stated that staff and students should think much on research and innovation.

On April 01, 2021, IPRC Huye Staff NTIRUSHWAMABOKO Elyse and student IRAMBONA David got 2,500 Euros each one as the prizes for their innovations selected as the best. These awards were given to them in line with the Project of Diaspora Engagement to support TVET in Rwanda that is being implemented by IOM - Rwanda in partnership with Rwanda Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

NTIRUSHWAMABOKO Elyse’s project is about the “Hydraulic ram pump for an automatic irrigation system” while IRAMBONA David’s one is for “Nizigwire Feeds Company Ltd”.

In his remarks, the Principal of IPRC Huye thanked IOM - Rwanda for their supports to encourage researchers. He recalled staff and students to think much on research and innovation.

“This is the first time and I think next time you will get more than what you got today. That is what I want from you. Normally here when we teach, we encourage both students and trainers to innovate or conduct research. For us in TVET, we highlight much on innovation. This gives us a chance to avoid wasting time to do other things but concentrate much on research. Our President also tells us always to think big. Now, dear colleagues, it is a work you are getting to think much on research. You are encouraged to do much research.” Says the Principal

On the side of IOM, Alexander, who led the delegation that came to IPRC Huye, reminded that the main objective of this Project of Diaspora Engagement is to encourage Rwandans who are abroad to come and contribute to the development of the country (Rwanda) mainly in Health and TVET Sectors. Concerning TVET, the collaboration is though Rwanda Polytechnic whereby experts in TVET who are in Europe will come to conduct the Training of trainers in all IPRCs. It will be a chance to interact with them. In addition, the project of Engaging Diaspora in TVET has one component of awarding the best innovators from IPRCs.

After awarding the best projects, IOM will continue to follow up the implementation of them in order to ensure for their sustainability. IOM also plans to conduct more other competitions in future days.
